Keaton Quilts Spotlight - New York City from My Quilty World

We are in New York City and I always try and find a quilt shop when we travel.  This one was challenging.  Keaton Quilts may just be the last quilt shop in New York City.  Due to high rent costs, it's almost impossible to stay in business and in trying to do so,   They have an amazing history - go in and meet Justin Stafford.  Oh and Google them - so, so

It's morning and we have PLANS!  We have a 9:00 appointment to see the Clydesdales!!!  So excited.  Now to get all my little chicks in a row and get out of here. We arrive a few minutes early to our appointment and that gives me a chance to peek around and breathe.  This was the ONE thing I really wanted to do on this trip and we've gone WAY out of our way to do it.  Here is the Warm Springs

Missouri Star Girls Trip 2 - Days 5 & 6 from My Quilty World

We've hit Day 5 in our Missouri Girls Trip.  Hard to believe, right?  We are still at the Retreat Center in downtown Hamilton, MO and it's our final day of the MSQC Doan Girls Retreat.  Time to drag ourselves out of bed and get moving.  For the last couple of day, I noticed a rug at the foot of the stairs and today I manage to get a picture of it.  I think every sewing room should have one. The

Quilt Sisters Exploring - Boonville, MO (Bridge, Park, and Sunset) from My Quilty World

Due to a bit of a a faux pas on my part, we are staying in Boonville, MO tonight.  If you go on a map and look up the distance from Hamilton, MO to Boonville, MO, you will find that we have made VERY little progress today.  We are TWO hours away from Hamilton and not in the right direction to go home.  Yep, I'm on a roll right now.  At any rate, we are in Boonville for the night so that we can

Missouri Star Girls Trip 2 - Days 3 and 4 from My Quilty World

Day 3 of our Missouri trip starts with the group preparing for a Scavenger Hunt through the Missouri Star Quilt Company shops.  We left the Hotel Hamilton a bit early, so the streets are empty enough for some pictures. In fact, Sherri has already managed to find the grocery store and buy herself a barn quilt.  She wins for first item bought today. The scavenger hunt begins and since I showed a lot

Missouri Quilt Museum - Hamilton, MO from My Quilty World

I was blessed to visit Hamilton, MO last year and so this trip is number 2 for me and a few others in our group.  However, we did not get the chance to visit the museum at that time and we have finished our scavenger hunt with some time leftover before the retreat officially begins.  The museum is only a few blocks away so we opt to walk.  We've heard great things about this museum and I'm

Blue Top Quilt Shop Spotlight - Lamar, MO from My Quilty World

Our second shop stop for today is at Blue Top Quilt Shop.  THIS one has had huge billboards all along the highway leading us here.  That meant we needed to stop, right?  Add in the fact that it is open on Monday and we're game for some treasure hunting.  I like this sign better, but there was a gentleman sitting in a car out front and I did stop to ask him if his wife had, indeed, screamed.  He

Birdseye Mercantile Spotlight - Avon, Montana from My Quilty World

In Montana, the Avon cut-off up to the Swan Valley has been used for many years and this time is no different.  What is different is that Mister spots a quilt shop sign.  I'm in shock.  There can't possibly be much of a quilt shop here.  Well, I was wrong and here is the post to share all about it.  The Birdseye Mercantile is one of only two regular, year-round businesses in Avon.  The other is a

Quilt Sisters at the Flood Murals in Paducah from My Quilty World

So, I really wanted to come to Paducah and basically forced my car to do so as well.  It is what it is.  One of the sights I had read about is the flood walls and the beautiful murals painted there.  Yesterday was so yucky out that we are making up for lost time today and leaving the house oh so early so that we can check them out.  We haven't even had breakfast - yep, I'm a determined person.

Quilt Sisters at The Millersburg Glass Museum from My Quilty World

The second stop of our sightseeing today is the Millersburg Glass Museum. I had no idea that there used to be a large glass factory here.  Groundbreaking for the new glass plant took place September 14, 1908 and it was located north of Millersburg along the Killbuck Creek.  Promoted by its first president, John W. Fenton, formerly of Fenton Art Glass, sales of stock to many local businessmen as

Ohio Quilt Sisters Trip --- Days 5 and 6 from My Quilty World

Well, today is a bit dreary so we are staying put in the hotel.  One would think sleeping in would be a good idea, but apparently my body doesn't agree.  When I get to the work room --- it's empty.   This is a pretty good picture, though.  Take a minute to check out our surroundings.  There is fun art on the walls and a full bar at the back.  Have you been to a retreat like this?Since it's quiet

AnnaLouisa's Quilt Shop Spotlight - Navarre, Ohio from My Quilty World

While in Berlin, we stopped at Zinck's Fabric Outlet and a gentleman there recommended AnnaLouisa's to us, saying that it was, in his opinion, the best shop within an hour drive.  You don't have to give me more than that.  From Millersburg, it was about 45 minutes, but a really pretty drive.  Even the grounds are beautiful.  This shop sits right on a lake.  How lovely is this?Let's go inside ---

Ohio Quilt Sisters Trip --- Days 3 and 4 from My Quilty World

Good Morning from Louisville, Kentucky.  We have stayed in the cutest little house and would love to just hang out for a bit, but friends are waiting.  We are meeting up with the Arkansas girls and Irene at Cotton to Quilts right at 10 and I'm starving.  Tiaras on, ladies. Although it is truly within walking distance, we load everything up in the cars and head down to Frankfort.  We've found a
